A Tour in Words - L’Armoire Consignments
Welcome to our wonderful shop! You may have been attracted by our purple awning next to Walker’s Pie Shop on bustling Solano Avenue. Perhaps it was the SALE rack by the curb. Most likely it was the gorgeous window dressing by Nancy Fellows, twin sister of our owner Noreen Colt and Artistic Director of our store. You decide to take the plunge and follow the great musical sounds emanating from the shop - and now you’re inside!
Immediately you notice the textures and colors that surround you. Our merchandise is beautifully displayed on the racks and walls. Why does everything seem so appealling?
We are dedicated to your shopping experience. We arrange our inventory by size and color. Our palette ranges through white, creams, pinks, reds, oranges, yellows, greens, teals, blues, violets, browns, greys, and ends with black.
To your right as you enter, you will see our reduced rack, a lovely cabinet of unusual decorative objects, and our extensive jewelry collection by the register. That’s where you will meet at least one of our wonderful staff - Noreen, Nancy, Andrea, or Willa. After the register and jewelry cases, you will see our collection of evening bags, and a second curio cabinet. Then you will see our dresses, vintage items, rugs, linens, scarves, and gloves. Our purple lounging chair nestles by the hat rack and the armoire full of eveningwear in the rear, across from the burgundy-curtained changing rooms.
On the way to the armoire, you’ve passed round racks of pants, suits and 2-piece outfits, “kleen” boutiquewear, jackets, skirts, and shawls. Shoes from size 5 to size 11 top these racks. You will probably have a lot to try on by the time you reach the changing area. But take another trip along the remaining wall of garments before you start trying things on. Along that wall hangs our extensive collection of blouses, sweaters and knit tops, cashmeres and velvets, belts, lingerie, coats, boots, and our amazing NEW ARRIVALS rack. Finally, take a look up at our shelves of handbags, fancy hats, and artwork - and then look down at our baskets of lower priced goodies, hat boxes, and umbrellas.
Shopping at L’Armoire can be a little addictive, not only because of the merchandise and ambience, but also because of the camaraderie with the wonderful women that shop and consign here.
